There are design standards for the sprocket: the sprocket is generally designed according to the following two aspects, as follows: (1) The sprocket tooth shape must ensure that the chain can enter and exit the engagement smoothly and freely, and minimize the impact and contact stress of the link during engagement, and it should be easy to process. (2) The sprocket is composed of three arcs aa, ab, cd and a straight line bc, which is referred to as three arc straight tooth profile. The tooth profile is processed with standard tools.

As for the design principle of chain wheel, generally, the design of sprocket tooth shape shall meet the requirements of three aspects: meshing requirements, use requirements, processability and accuracy requirements, which are divided into the following six aspects in detail: (1) Ensure that the chain can mesh in and out smoothly without interference. (2) It has enough capacity to accommodate the elongation of chain pitch. (3) It has reasonable action angle. (4) The tooth profile curve is suitable for the working condition of chain drive. (5) It is conducive to meshing and preventing chain from dropping due to chain jumping. (6) Good processing technology.
